Like I Said

We’re working on some things around the house, which is pretty exciting in the summer doldrums. Or dog days of summer. July might be the February of this time of year, as far as long stretches of meh go.

It’s nice to have a goal to work on, and it’s especially cool when an actual product arises, materializes, from that goal. There was a plan, which took the longest to nail down. And now we’re following the plan. Seems to be coming together nicely.

A thing I love about home painting: peeling dried paint from the roller tray. Like, when the paint all comes out in one layer. SO. SATISFYING.

A Little Text Savvy

Me, to a guy friend:  Would any of your hot [distinguishing quality] friends be interested in going out?

Guy friend: They will have to ask their wives or [girlfriends]? There might be one though. Why who is asking?

Me: Just me. I haven’t been on a date in a while. 🙂

Guy friend: Well, we can fix that in a few weeks. This [sic] next two weeks are pretty intense.

Me: You’re a stud. Good luck with everything the next couple of weeks.

Now all I need to do is find someone to go out with in the meantime.

I don’t have a lot of time to think about awesome answers for this questionnaire that’s due for work on Monday. Because you’re awesome, I’m thinking maybe you could help me with awesome answers. Some of the questions you won’t know/can’t fudge/make fun of the answers, but I know you’ll do your best. Thanks, guys. Have fun.

Un Plan

So, I know about who’s in Australia, some people in Utah, and a lot of people along the East Coast. I don’t know about anybody anywhere else. Western Europe, Russia, East and Central Asia; the one blip in South America; and who’s the little guy swimming in the middle of the South Pacific? He’s probably browsing the internet while holding an umbrella-adorned beverage and wearing board shorts (and nothing else) and sitting under a palm tree as the waves crash upon the shore. Lucky. According to the information, he’s from Wallis and Futuna.

I imagine whoever’s in Russia is doing the exact opposite. Is that even still Russia? Yep, I checked. Parka, boots, slow internet; tundra, timberline; vodka.

This weekend is going to be busy with school stuff. The university should just make this whole next week part of Thanksgiving break. I’ve overheard a lot of conversations about people leaving tonight to fly/drive home to spend time with their families. I vote throwaway days, since there’s no class on Wednesday anyway.

It was a busy weekend

and I’m not all that sure it even happened.

Of course it did; there’s too much proof.

It just happened quickly, and I need more time.

I sought out a few of you to vent or catch up or what not.

Thanks for being around.

If you weren’t around, it happens.

Can’t argue with that.

Just like this past weekend.

Catch you next time.

August Announcements

Friday, August 8: I’ll be attending the All Points West Music & Arts Festival, and I’ll let you guess who’ll be performing. Peter, Paul & Mary? That’d be fun, but no. Fergie? Thanks, but I don’t really feel like torturing myself. Kool & the Gang? Seriously? You’re not even trying. Let me just say it. Radiohead. I’ll be going to see Radiohead, and it’s going to be a fabulous show. I know some of you are jealous, and I’m sorry. Wow, full circle. I’ll be seeing them nearly five years from the last time I saw them. I wrote about it here and here.

Thursday, August 14: I’m going to The Daily Show with some friends. The Colbert Report was fun; that was over two years ago. Jon Stewart should be a blast. Yay.

Saturday, August 16: I would LOVE to be able to attend The Green World Festival up in the Catskills and camp overnight. (As of this posting their website is down, seems their domain expired. I hope they renew it.) It’s in a town called Windham, northwest of Woodstock. A few folk singers will be there, and I’ve never been camping while I’ve lived here, and I NEED to go!

Saturday, August 23: I’ve been invited to help build a cob house in Pennsylvania. I hope it works out. It would be a lot of fun, a unique experience, a chance to really get my hands dirty. Maybe it’ll help me decide if I truly want a cob house of my own.

I can’t believe the summer is starting to wind down already. It’s AUGUST, people.
