Aimee Mann. Summer concert at Rockefeller Park; June 30, 2004. Free. I may have just seen Magnolia within the past month. This is one of the songs from the soundtrack.
It’s not what you thought
When you first began it
You got what you want
Now you can hardly stand it, though
By now you know
It’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
Till you wise up
You’re sure there’s a cure
And you have finally found it
You think one drink
Will shrink you till you’re underground
And living down
But it’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
Till you wise up
Prepare a list for what you need
Before you sign away the deed
‘Cause it’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
Till you wise up
No, it’s not going to stop
Till you wise up
No, it’s not going to stop
So just give upIt’s not what you thought
When you first began it
You got what you want
Now you can hardly stand it, though
By now you know
It’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
Till you wise up
You’re sure there’s a cure
And you have finally found it
You think one drink
Will shrink you till you’re underground
And living down
But it’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
Till you wise up
Prepare a list for what you need
Before you sign away the deed
‘Cause it’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
It’s not going to stop
Till you wise up
No, it’s not going to stop
Till you wise up
No, it’s not going to stop
So just give up

Almost a year later. An experience that didn’t involve very much wisdom at all.
LOVE Aimee Mann! It’s great and I envy you that you’ve seen her live. The Magnolia tracks are awesome. My favorite albums were the 1st 3 for quite a while.
I got to speak to her drummer for a few minutes after this concert. He happens to be the drummer of a friend of mine who still lives in the city.
I smirk every time I think that she fronted ‘Til Tuesday. 🙂 She’s great.
Haha yeah, ‘Til Tuesday was such a eighties band. 🙂 When she came out with her first solo material, it must have been a revelation to a lot of people that only knew her from that band.
Wow, you know her drummer? Sweet!
