What I’ll miss: The skyline
No other city in the world has one as cool.
It just keeps climbing
piercing the sky
hoping heaven bursts
and quenches
upon hot steel beams
and steaming cement
What I won’t miss: Not seeing the stars
I’ve rarely seen a full sky of stars in the past seven years.
Ascending 4000 feet
Then
the mountains
extend my reach
to the dark velvet expanse
and its scattered,
infinite diamonds.
